Hello there, I just picked up a 82'XV 920R with 24K miles for next to nothing!I really love the way the bike handles. It kills me that people let a machine like this just sit in a garage for so many years!? Oh well my gain!! My names Mark. Happy riding to you all.. PEACE

Ach (seufz), da zappt man im net herum und findet eine seite aus der guten alten TR 1 - Zeit. Man bekommt richtig Heimweh danach.

I have enjoyed my XV920 since purchasing it new in 1981. The motorcycle has been very reliable, and has had no major service issues. It is in stock condition and is my daily commuter for work and errands. As a journalist, I have ridden the motorcycle on many assignments. In June, I enjoyed an amazing evening motoring the backroads in my rural area. I thought about all the enjoyment my XV920 has given me, and how it has been a part of my children's lives. They each have grown up loving motorcycles. I am excited to learn there are XV920 enthusiasts in Europe. I have never met another XV920 owner in the United States, but many people have complimented me for my motorcycle and some have made offers to buy it. Selling it would be impossible because of its sentimental value. I wish all my TR1 brethren in Europe many happy miles and pleasant memories. Thank you for maintaining this interesting and educational Web site.

Last week I rode the XV to the British and European Classic Motorcycle show at a big orchard here in Gaithersburg, MD (just outside of Washington, DC) What a big collection of nicely restored bikes! As the day was winding down I rode down to the display area where my friend had shown his MotoGuzzi. People were turning to see the XV, in part because it sounded different, then they were trying to figure out what it was. Ha, more rare than the Bonnevilles, and completely stock!

I'm intend to buy a TR1, it's a very nice maschine. I used to have a Yamaha XJ750. I was very happy with it but unfortunately had to sell it a few years ago. Is the TR1 as good as ( or even better ) to drive than the YJ750? Your home page is very intersting and you find absolutely everyting that you have to know about the TR1. Can I find somewhere in the internet test notes of the TR1? Tanks and continue like this. Geert ( waldhof.henau@bluewin.ch )

Dear Manfred, Hope you'll find english oke'? My German isn't too good... Anyway's,I had to bring my old (1984) TR 1 out, after 4 years of not running, because I bought a Honda Magna 1100 Custom, and toured through Europe for 3 years, amongst to Berlin and Dresden, for 1 week each.Wonderful Time!!! But 2 weeks before I would ride through France with a friend on a HD Sportster 883,I blew up a cylinder-foot-gasket,so I ended up with trouble, but I noticed in time,so no real harm was done, except for the fact that honda is very expensive,so I HAD to bring out my old, wonderful bike, and after 12 days we had driven 3.774 kilometers!! Just 2 chain-adaptions and 1\2 liter of oil!I STILL LOVE THAT BIKE!!Mine is a little chopped at the back, because I lowered the back-frame,in order to get a much better sit-position,çause I'm a small guy!! I have a picture on my computer, but I don't know how to show it to you... Anyway,I loved to read about you,and I"m definetively interested in a TR 1 meeting!!! Hope to hear from you, Peter KAWA (my nickname) Peter is real,though....

Had my bike since early 1983, it's had an engine, brakes & front shocks rebuild along the way. Now the starter motor has given up so she sits in the garage under the bike cover waiting for me to restore her. Every now and then I get her out give her a wash and checkup and then put her back. Had a ZZR1100 and now riding a Superblackbird 1100. Yearn to hear the sound of the conti style exhausts once again.

Great site Manfred... No real problems to speak of - I've had the rear cylinder quit on me a couple of times, but it's always been due to the carby needing to be cleaned out. Indicators are a little dodgy, tend to work when they want to, and once my neutral light stayed on for several days although this seems to have resolved itself. The clutch is slipping a little, but admittedly it's done a few kilometeres so the plates are probably quite worn. Other than that it's been an excellent bike and it's nice to see it has such a following! Only modifications to the bike are highway bars (the further-forward-mounted flat style footpegs), a top-end rebuild, and a re-bore several years ago.

(Prof.)

Anmerkung Manfred: Nicht ganz richtig. Ich bekomme die Zahlen der nicht stillgelegten TR1. Vorübergehend abgemeldete TR1, so wie Deine, sind also berücksichtigt. D.h. der Schwund ist real!
