Title: tyres and exhaust Post by Jon Pearson(Guest) on 08.07.04 at 07:20:00
hi, sorry can't read German, I've been through the tech info and forum, to save a little time thought it would be quicker to ask.... tyres, I see in tech that a letter (can't read) is possibly ok with 130 & 140 x 18 rear tyres is this ok, I'm told NO by tyre shop, but would like to, I'm running the standard narrow spoke xv1000 mags with 120 x 18. Has anyone have experance with this, is the tyre shape change too much, looking at modern sticky pattern, avon, perelli, michelin... second question is with exhaust 2 into 2 do you need ballance tube, rear pipe length importance, pipe diamater if running reverse cone like sepps 7a and 7b photos, anyone help, need to build my own I'm in deep south Pacific away from anyone. thanks |

I recomend the original size 120X18. I've tryed wider tyres but had some nasty experiences with wobble in a long curve at 90 mph... With the non-superbike-engine and the steering geometry the narrow tyres works just right. Correct air pressure is important especially in the front tyre. For exhaust building i've found a site for you; http://www.btinternet.com/~mezporting/exhaust_length.html Greetings from Sweden and the Swedish TR1-club! Lars |
