Title: Engine done - Moving on to suspension Post by Odradek on 14.08.24 at 19:45:09
I finally finished my engine and have put it to one side while I take care of the rest of the bike. Today I completely disassembled stand have the frame in pieces on the floor for cleaning and some painting. Next step will be suspension. New front springs will be the first thing. But I'm wondering about the rear shock. This bike was sitting unused for over 25 years. Will the rear shock still be good or will it have seized up a bit inside ? Should I just budget for a new shock from Wilbers or Hagon ? Also, does anyone have recommendations for new front springs ? Progressive ? Thanks for any info. |

The rear shocks are remarkably resiliant. I'd simply give it a try. Only one warning: use a manual air pump to increase the air-pressure, otherwise it is very likely that you ruin the reservoir on the inside. (It's tiny...) Cheers, Greg |
