ok so youve probably seen my post about  my starter solonoid issue well it was suggested it may be the starter motor so like a bull in a china shop i did a quick google search and decided to remove the 2 bolts and pull it out ...............

...... turns out it looks like theres more to it than that and i should of drained the oil and removed the side and various cogs etc !! i didnt manage to get the starter motor out but it mived about 1 or 2 cm before i realised i tried to push it back and it went but i still need to get the starter motor out
has anybody got a step by step guide?? or know of one online please

p.s my bikes a 1980 xv1000 t1

Check out this little gem from the depths of this forum:

https://www.tr1.de/pages/technics_linda.php?techidx=8

It's the re-assembly (as that's the trickier part), but if you read the page from the bottom up, you get the idea.

Cheers,
Greg
