TR1. Rear cylinder lower gasket minor leak, just very little leak of oil, barely noticeable. How serious is that? I mean if that effects on pressure or so…Do I need to overhaul the engine top end immediately..? 97000 km ridden. 5A8 class of 1983.

Hallo Badsector,

I think it's at the point where the two halves of the housing meet.
It's not bad yet, you just have to clean twice as much, but keep an eye on it.
As a precaution, check the cylinder head screws to see if they are still tight.
For me they always come loose a little every 30,000km.
Greetings Brunó  Cool

Good  Day Badsector,
could you place an image/pic of the leak here?

Does your Engine was been opened during the 97000km?

Perhaps is just a damaged Gasket in resuld of the age.
Around the Cylindertube, on the out side, sits an orange colored O-Ring (Pos. 2). This O-Ring functioned as "Gas-Ring" and shall keep the Crank Case Blow-By Gas away from the Cylinder Food Gasket (Pos. 6). If this O-Ring is craked as result of it s age, Blow-By Gas can flow thru and results in an small Oilleak.
Oil: a little amound of Engine Oil is content of the Blow-By-Gas in form of vaporised Oil.

With kind regards
Anja

Thank You! I’ll leave the job to the future then. And check the cylinder head bolts tightness.
