Flash relay problem - Help please!
12.07.17 at 17:32:35

Hi Tr1 freunde

I have a problem replaceing my old flash relay.

My old relay is called Nippondenso FJ249CD
The new relay, orderd on original part number, is called Denso FJ245ED.

Why does my nye relay not work!
I have now tried with 2 different Denso relay's, but with the same negative result.
At best the lightbubs stay on but does not flash.

The old relay still works, but is starting to fail on hot days (used it 20 years, so used up).
Even the original cut-off relay works with the old FJ249CD.

Why does the new relay not work ???

I can't find any wireing problems.. (new original wire-harnes).

Photos of old and new relays attached.

Any ideas ?

Why you not use thies one :

Why you do not use such a, this is cheap, simple and universal to use, whether you use blubs or LED, it always flashes.
I sell this, a lot for every kind of bike.  Grin

I don't have a pin-out for the new relay (and I suspect it's the same as the old one), but have you considered the fact that it might simply be a broken new relay? (I had that more than once in my life...) Roll Eyes

Just get a standard car relay or if you want to go fancy use one of Odin's nice relays and wire it accordingly.

Cheers,
Greg

Thank you for your answer Greg.

I have now tried with 2 new relays, and one used.
The last new relay was in original yamaha parts bag, and with original yamaha Tr1 spareparts number.
And it still didn't work.

The only one the works is my old and worn FU249CD relay.

I finally managed to find a new FU249CD in Holland.
Which I really hope will work.. Fingers crossed Smiley

I have now wasted about 200 euro's on relay's, so it is starting be a bit of a farce.
