Thomas Heins has FZR 1000 rotors and calipers on his bike:

These are floating rotors. A good way to improve braking is to change to steel-braced brakelines and to swap the main cylinder to a model with smaller diameter of the piston. It's described on this site (Manfreds).

I have a main brake cylinder from a Yamaha TZR 250 on my TR1, and one from the XJ 600 Diversion on my XJ650 Turbo. They have both a 14mm piston, and brakes are "good enough" now. The cylinder from the XJ has also an adjustable lever.
Bye,
Georg
