Hello.
I have my TR1 for sale. Based near Salisbury in the UK.
I purchased this TR1 in June of this year with the intentions of a long term restoration and to build it to my own specifications.
The previous owner had travelled around Europe for ten years and the bike shows sun fading on the tank and side panels. Also rubber seals on the instruments have perished through exposure to sunlight. The previous owner had also replaced the starter motor and introduced a problem with the engine. I have stripped the starter motor and gear assembly. All is in working order but the engine is nosiy.
I have started the restoration by addressing any problems I found on the bike first. The fuel taps have had new gaskest fitted. The carberateurs have been stripped and cleaned. New gaskets and jets fitted. I have also had both diapragms replaced.
But I am trying to get to the bottom of the engine noise and I realise I am getting close the what I have the ability to do. Then a TR1 appeared on ebay with only 9k miles on the clock. I have purchsed that TR1 so now have two bikes. I need to sell my original.
Overview Chassis number 5A8.... Year of manufacture 1981. Mileage 45,017 miles Colour Maroon. Nearly new Tyres. MOT in place until 6th feb 2012. Currently no Road Tax, on SORN.
Good bits Very original bike. All looks original. No one has tried to update the bike or convert it. The tank paint is sun faded but has no dents. Petrol tap gaskets replaced. Carbs gasket set and jets replaced. New Starter motor. Nearly new tyres
Bad Bits. Engine noise. Bike occasionally accelerates with no input from throttle. In process of diagnosing fault when I purchased the new TR1. Tacho does not work. The engine and chassis numbers do not match. The engine has been replaced at some time.
If you need any other information please let me know.
This is a bike for restoration and not fit to run on the road today.
For sale for £550. (UK Pounds)
I will take some photo's this weekend and attach.
